Aiden's first swim!

The weather finally got warm enough this weekend and we were all able to jump in the pool for a relaxing swim. I wore Aiden in my new SolarVeil sling and I think I am going to love it for this summer. It dried so quickly and he felt so much more secure in my sling than me holding his slippery, squirmy little baby body!
Here they are! Ready to go swimming. Lacey had to get in on the photo action here.

Ethan grinning for the picture

Showing us how he can float on his back and kick around the pool. Now if only he could do that without his lifevest. Oh well, hopefully the swim lessons will help with that part.
Here is a video, look past me and just my cute as can be kids!!!

Aiden Update

I have been going back and forth about posting this, just cause I didn't want to face it and I thought that if I just didn't say anything then it wouldn't be true. But its not the case because it has been keeping me up at night and making me sick to my stomach.
Aiden's little head is very flat on the back and it looks like we are going to have him in a helmet for about 3 months. I am so upset about it and I keep looking at things I did and if I could have done anything different with him. With him being so sick in the few few months, we had to constantly keep him propped up at all times. So he slept in his swing, carseat, and bouncy chair. Well all of that did not help with his head. I carry him in a sling most of the day, but the damage has been done. We take Aiden to the specialist on Friday at 1:15, so if you could just keep us in your thoughts and prayers, I would greatly appreciate it. My little guys has seen WAY too many specialists, doctors and hospitals in his short four months. :(

It's almost pool time!

The pool is almost warm enough to swim in and I am so excited! We have been looking into swim lessons for Ethan and I think we might have a winner. My friends Kelly and Meg have both taken lessons with Bob and have had great success. He lives close to us so here's to hoping that

  1. He will come to our house and teach Ethan

  2. That Ethan will finally get into the pool without his life jacket

Yeah, I think we have put the fear of God into Ethan that you can NOT get into the pool without a life jacket on. He won't even let you hold him in the pool without his jacket on. We have since realized this can be a very bad thing if you want to teach your kid to swim without a jacket on. I really hope the lessons are a success!

Boredsville here we come....

No we aren't really going to Boredsville, but my younger cousin Stacy named her lake house this a few years ago when she was didn't want to go there for vacation. Of course when I am there its anything BUT boring. :)
We bought our plane tickets the other day and now the countdown is on...86 days! Yes, I am really counting down, why you ask? Because I have a 3yr old little boy who LOVES to travel, just like his mommy, and he asks me every day when we are going to Michigan, so now he has a calendar that we cross of days on every day.
I am personally looking forward to seeing all my family, hanging out in the water during the day and drinking by the bonfire at night!

Ode to the Swing

Oh you magical swing, you gently lull the baby into a dream filled sleep for hours, yet now we find we are too dependent on you. Why must you stop swinging at 24lbs? Can you not please swing till they are in 1st grade. We try to sleep without you and only manage 35 minutes, yet with you its a lovely 4 hours. You are a God send, yet you are evil at the same time. How can this be!? I love you and hate you, I need you but want you out of my house. Help!!

I need a vacation!

I just need some me time. Is that bad? All I want to do is go to Chicago for a weekend, sleep in, see a Cubs game, shop and have a girly weekend. I want to just enjoy myself, and I want my SIL Kirsten to drive up from Ohio and join me. Is that to much to ask?

Happy Mother's Day...

Or weekend in my case. My Mothers Day weekend started on Sat. The boys let me sleep in and then woke me up with breakfast in bed. With Sunday mornings being crazy in our house before church we wouldn't have time then. We just hung out as a family on Sat and then that night we went out to eat at Fuzzy's in Denton with our friends Phillip and Jessica. Today they woke me up with the most wonderful card from Ethan. I posted it below for your enjoyment as well:

Mothers Day 2008,an early morning interview with Ethan.

It's 7:30am Mothers Day 2008 and Ethan and I are sitting at the kitchen table, while mommy is fast asleep. In the background is the clicking of Aiden's swing as he is still fast asleep. (He last ate at 5am)

So Ethan, what should we get mommy for Mothers Day?Um, A Dumptruck.

What Else... Besides a dump truck.A Barbie, A Princess Barbie. Maybe not a dumptruck.

What makes mom such a great mommy? Her Heart. And CUPS...

What Kind of Cups?Blue and Yellow, Blue and Yellow Cups.. She puts Lemonade and Milk in Blue and Yellow Cups.

Ok, Blue and Yellow Cups..No!!, you say Blue and Yellow Blue and Yellow cups.

Do you love mommy?I dooooo.

What's your favorite place to go with mommy?SIX FLAGS. I get to ride on the rides with mommy.

What's You and Mommy's favorite ride. The Roller Coasters.

What's your favorite lunch that mom makes you?CANDY. Can I have a drink in an open cup, and straw...

About a minute later, a straw wrapper flies off the end of his straw and hits me in the neck.

Ethan, if you could go anywhere in the world with mommy, where would you go?TARGET.

At that point in the conversation, his 3 year old patience took over and the answer to all following questions involved counting to ten and partial abc renditions due to the fact that there are, letters and numbers on the keyboard and on the screen. He did, however, ask to color you a card. and to type this following sentence:12345674567890asswuuy

Wow, asswuuy, I think that's a new word, all though it looks like it might be a bad word.

We Love you sweetie!!!!!! Now we are off to cook you a quiche for breakfast!!!Seth and Ethan, oh, and Aiden says 'glurbal glurbal glurbal' smiles and those dimples!

I got part of my Mothers Day gift a few weeks ago, my new Mothers Ring with Aidens name, birth date and birth stones on it. Seth also surprised me with a weekend trip to Fredricksburg to stay at a B&B sometime this summer when mom & dad can watch the boys. I can't wait.
They also cooked me breakfast again this morning, mushroom quiche, YUM!! We went to church and then Aiden went over to grandma and papa's house while the three of us headed out to Six Flags. Apparently we were not the only ones who thought it would be a good idea. :)
We headed back home to my parents house around 5:00 and came home to a fully cooked dinner that we didn't have to cook or set the table for. The boys did all the work!! All in all this has been one of the best Mothers Day I have had, I had a great day!

Picture time!

I now know why there are a TON of pictures of your first kiddo, and once you have another one they start to slow down. It's because its hard as hell to take pictures with a toddler and a newborn,OMG! I was worn OUT after 2 hours of picture taking, pleading with a 3yr old to "pose just one more time" and changing clothes, feeding the baby, etc, etc, etc. You get the picture!
We went on Friday afternoon to get the boys pictures taken with ReJana of BluDoor Studios(http://www.bludoorstudios.com) . ReJana has taken all my maternity pictures, Aidens delivery pictures and our first family pictures. Needless to say she is our favorite!
I only knew I wanted to take pictures of the boys in their Stars jerseys (I'm not going to even address how the Stars are playing, UGH!) and asked her if she had any other ideas. She said something funky and colorful and then all white.
Umm, all white? I must mention now that ReJana has a little girl, and there are TONS of items available in white for a little girl. Little boys, not so much. Clothing designers must know that little boys are rough and tumble and white is not the best thing for them. Never mind all that, I was determined to get them all white. I stopped at Children's place and found a white dress shirt for Aiden for only $2.99, score! I then wandered over to the toddler section and found white linen pants for Ethan for the bargain price of $3.99~ They were trying to get rid of all their Easter clothes, I was so happy!
So the pictures are not back yet, but I just know they are going to be super cute! I will be sure to post a link once I get to see them!!

Aiden is rolling over!!

He did it for the first time last night. Actually I take that back, he rolled over when he was just a week or two old, but it was not on purpose! He was just so pissed that I made him have tummy time that he would thrash his body till he flipped over. Crazy boy... Anyways, I didn't have my camera handy last night, so tonight when I put him down I had it ready!!

How YOU doin'?

I'm tired now!

Too cute...

Ethan had a shirt sent to him from Michigan from my Aunt DeeDee, and right now its his favorite. It says: Too cute for Time Out.

Yeah, so every time he gets in trouble now, he tells me he is too cute for time out, and if he doesn't want to go to bed, he tells me he is too cute for bed. Do you see where this is going? We will be bringing that shirt up with us when we go to Michigan, I hope we don't forget it at the lake house....

;-)

I knew it would happen...

I just thought it would be when the boys got older. As I was running to answer the phone this morning, stupid telemarketers, I heard Aiden scream out in pain. I hung up the phone and ran back out into the game room scooped him up and asked Ethan what happened. Ethan looked right at me and said "I hit his head" no remorse, no gosh it was an accident, sorry mom, just plain old hit him cause he could. Poor Aiden's head was red but its not swollen or anything. I am still going to keep an eye on it today...I thought the hitting between siblings wasn't supposed to start till they were 6 or 7!?!?

Cinco de Mayo

A few years ago, BC (Before Children) we would have gone out tonight for Mexican food and margaritas and made a whole night of it. This year, with two little ones at home we settled for beef enchiladas, corn souffle and Corona Light with lime. But you know what, this was tons more fun, just hanging out with my boys. Now we are just chilling out on our new couches, watching Cars and waiting for my parents to come over and pick up their dog we watched this past week.

Workout Update

Today was my day to get measured, actually it was last week but I forgot so today was it. Here are my current stats:
-10 inches; -2.2% body fat, and that was only the first month of working out!
So far down two complete dress sizes and working my way down through another one. WOOHOO!!

Aiden Update...

I took Aiden to the Dr today and we now have some new medicine for him. As of today the Dr also wants us to start him on solids 2-3 times a day. We are also adding a tsp of rice cereal to every ounce of formula in his bottles. I hope the combo we are on now will help with his reflux. Poor baby throws up so much!! They did weigh & measure him today, he is exactly 14lbs and is still right on the middle of the line curve for height and weight, 50 percentile baby! Tonight is rice cereal and sweet potatoes, I will upload pictures from that tomorrow.

Bathtime...together!!

Ethan & Aiden took their first bath together tonight. Ethan has been asking for weeks now if Aiden can take a bath with him but it just hasn't been possible. Now that Aiden can sit in the Bumbo for periods of time, I came up with an idea. Since the bumbo is all rubber, why couldn't I just stick that in the tub, perfect fit!! Here are some cute pics of my boys:

Seth and the Boys...

While I was out enjoying myself at the BBP; Seth, Ethan and Aiden drove ALLLLLL the way down to Fort Worth to hang out with Heather and her family at Fuzzy's Tacos. Ethan had a blast hanging out with everyone and Aiden was in a great mood Seth said. It must have worn the boys out since Aiden slept though the night again, woke up at 6am to eat and then fell asleep again. Ethan slept in till 9am! I hope he continues that when I have to get up with them tomorrow!!!

Seth is such a rockin dad, he handled both boys like a champ, he even got them all ready and to church on time this morning, SUPER DAD!!!

~Bestie Bachelorette Party Weekend~

From left to right:
Carla, AmgG, Megan, Me, Kelly, Susan, Jessica (the top of her head) Virginia, Amie, Keeli, Meg, Dianthe, Sars, Chris and Lynn

I have a group of about 30 girls that I chat with on a daily basis. One night while we were all chatting our bachelorette parties got brought up. Me, along with others, told how our first one were less than appealing and how we wished we could have a "redo". So we decided to do it, have a Second Chance Bachelorette Party. OMG, we had a blast.

We started out at Embassy Suites in Dallas. Three suites between us (there were about 17 girls that night and only 14 spent the night) and we started out the night with the managers welcome cocktail reception. This was perfect for us, free beer, wine and cocktails, perfect!! After that we all went upstairs and got dressed and hair and makeup done.

We caught the hotel shuttle and went out to dinner at Victory Tavern for dinner. We all ate dinner and then rode in cabs over to The Station and went to the 11:00 Drag Queen show in the Rose Room. We had SUCH a great time! Sars, AmieB, Jess, Keeli and I all had to go up on the stage when they called up all the bride to be's since we were wearing veils, we could not escape. We all had to tell our names and then dance and walk the catwalk. I think Sars & AmieB were the best, Jess & I avoided walking it. Then they brought us all a round of shots and we did those up on stage.
We happen to sit across the aisle from a very cute guy and his partner, they were asking us about our wedding dates and we had to tell them the truth and they thought it was awesome. We ended up talking back and forth and they bought our entire party a shot, sweet!!
After the show we all went downstairs and we danced the night away. Half of the girls went back to the hotel after the show, but Carla, Jessica, Sars, Rebecca, Dianthe, ReJana and I all stayed till the bar stopped serving. I haven't been out dancing that late in years and I had so much fun, I didn't realize how much I missed it.
We all got back to the hotel, talked to some fraternity guys that made us feel really old and then I changed and got into bed while they walked down to What-A-Burger to get some food. When they got back we stayed up till 4am talking, yawn!! I happened to wake up at 10am and got them up and we managed to go downstairs and snag a few things for breakfast. Sat around talking again, went upstairs and ate the cake we had forgotten about and then we went our separate ways. It was an awesome time and I am so glad that I have such great friends that we are able to do things like this!!!
Pictures to come!!!

I'm such a bad mom...

Or some might call me a bad ass mom, you decide!
Yesterday while I was in the car with Aiden he started to get fussy so I turned on the radio and started singing to the first song that came on the radio "Pour Some Sugar on Me"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p0z1y5mg_E,
but the song was almost over and as soon as it ended he started crying again. So I turned off the radio and just sung the song to him, totally calmed him down and put him to sleep. He is already in love with the classics!
Today while we were at Target we were walking around the underwear and bra section, Ethan wasn't even really paying attention and I was trying to hurry up and get what I needed before he noticed where we were. I found the bra I wanted and put it in the cart behind the other stuff we were getting. Ethan saw me and ripped it out and started playing with it. I took it away from him and told him no, he couldn't play with bras. He cried and said he wanted to play with it, I told him "No, ....at least not until you are married" I started laughing at myself and Ethan looked at me like I was nuts. The two guys stocking stuff the aisle over about fell over laughing and when we walked by again the guy told me he was going to use that line on his teenage son. Glad I could provide some comic relief for someone else today!

Selling our stuff...

Since we are in the middle of spring cleaning, I have been listing a bunch of stuff on Craigslist, to clean out the house and make some money at the same time. While I do admit you get some weirdo's on Craigslist:
1. Would you be willing to trade your couches for a dog? Um no
2. Will you take $50 for all three tables? No, we paid over $500, the price we set is a steal
3. Can you guarantee the leather for the rest of its life? No, who knows wth you are going to do with once it leaves my house
4. Will you deliver to *insert city name far away* for free? I want to see them first. Yeah, I am going to load all this up and then drive it down to you for you to look at it, no thanks.

Like I said, you get a bunch of freaks, but the people that drive up from Terrell and bought our couches were such nice people. I felt like I had known them for a long time, just a nice couple that were from the country. They brought their horse trailer to put the couches in, Ethan was VERY upset that they had no horses in there. They were buying the couches for their new bunkhouse. I think they are going to fit there perfectly!! Unfortunately, the bunkhouse was not big enough for the tables as well, so they only bought the couches. Now the tables are up on Craigslist.
I have a lady coming by tonight to look at the mattress topper that we only used for about a month or so, I really hope she buys it, it is taking up SOOO much room in our game room right now.
